Mobile Home Taxes

The 2013 Mobile Home tax bills were mailed March 15, 2013.
The due date is May 15, 2013.
A May 15, 2013 postmark will be considered "on time."
Late charges will begin on May 16, 2013.
By law, interest of $25.00 per month (not to exceed $100) is assessed after the due date.

The County Collector sends out 305 mobile home tax bills and collects $24,000 annually. Upon collection, that money will be disbursed among the various taxing bodies in the county. Mobile Home taxes are based on the age and square footage of the home.
Before buying a mobile home, please call the Moultrie County Treasurer's office at 217-728-4032 to be sure the taxes are paid to date.

To obtain a clear title to the mobile home, you will need to file a Mobile Home Certification with the Secretary of State. The Certification states that all taxes are paid in full. You can obtain the Certification at the Treasurer's office. There is no fee for this service in Treasurer's office.

Before moving a mobile home, please contact the Treasurer's office to obtain a moving permit. The permit must accompany the mobile home as it is being moved. There is no fee for this service in Treasurer's office.

Effective January 1, 2011 any new mobile/manufactured home is automatically real estate that is not in a mobile home park. Any mobile homes existing prior to January 1, 2011 located outside of a mobile home park that do not change ownership will remain under privilege tax until new ownership occurs and at such a time would then become real estate the following year. If any mobile home is located within a mobile home park prior to and after January 1, 2011 it will remain privilege tax. Please contact our office with questions 217-728-4032.
